Summer holidays - The top destinations

Summer’s that special time of year when everyone’s got a smile on their face, and at Butlins we want to make sure you stay beaming throughout your holidays. That’s why on our breaks you’ll find everything you need to complete the perfect summer holiday, such as pristine golden beaches, beautifully landscaped gardens to while away the hours in, and great live entertainment and fun activities to suit all ages

Spain and summer holidays are almost synonymous, when you close your eyes and think of the sun and the beach under warm skies. Mallorca island is simply the perfect destination for summer holidays.
With a wonderfully warm climate conditions, the Mallorca weather guarantees sunshine throughout the summer, beaches of pale golden sand that are perfect for sunbathing, while the calm, clear waters and sheltered bays provide excellent conditions for watersports. Magaluf’s beach runs parallel to the main street of the resort.
Within walking distance is Platja Son Maties, on the edge of Palma Nova and just south of Magaluf, Portals Vells, has two small beaches including the Platja Mago, which is one of Mallorca’s official nudist beaches.

The Canary Islands are ideal for year-round sunshine, and there is a lot more to find than pile-’em-high resorts such as Playa de las Americas. Lanzarote is particularly attractive and has some excellent villas with pools. Tenerife has many charming hotels and a rugged volcanic interior to explore. We recommend Abama Golf & Spa Resort in Tenerife and Princesa Yaiza Hotel Resort in Lanzarote, both of which are especially good for families.
The Balearics are the most popular summer holiday destinations in Spain. Mallorca has a reputation for downmarket package tourism, but once you get away from the crowded resorts you’ll find beautiful scenery, mountains, deserted coves, pine forests and quaint village. Mallorca’s capital Palma is overlooked by many visitors but it’s a beautiful city of cobbled squares, bars, historic buildings and elegant shops making it ideal for a city break.

Greece may have a few economic problems to sort out right now, but it remains one of the favourite European holiday destinations. It’s not just the promise of long hot summers that keep us coming back, it’s the diversity of the islands – and the mainland – plus the quality of the accommodation and the friendliness of the people.
Whether you’re catching a ferry to an island, lazing on a beach or sitting at a pavement taverna with a Greek salad and a glass of wine, you feel that you’ve captured the essence of summer holidays. A simple, slow, timeless pleasure. Corfu is much maligned because of one or two cheap-and-nasty package resorts, but a great deal of the island is beautiful, particularly the north-east corner. There you’ll find some gorgeous villas with pools within easy reach of charming beachfront tavernas and restaurants. Nearby Kefalonia also has some gorgeous villas.
