Pelekas is an attractive hilltop village, set 3km inland from the beach of Glyfada. It is famous for its postcard views and summer breezes. The famous viewpoint known as Kaisers Lookout, Tower or Throne is above Pelekas village and up an extremely steep hill signposted to the centre of Pelekas and this is a walk not for the fainthearted but definitely worth the trek. The views are amazing and East to Corfu Town, Northwest along the Ropa Valley, South to Mount Agios Mattheos and West to the Western Sea of the ionian islands of Greece.
Many of the bars and shops are that of a traditional Corfiot village, although there are starting to be traces of the tourist industry creeping in. Back in the 70's Pelekas was known predominately for its high life hippy attitude to life and many of the shops and bars in the main town still reflect this psychedelic approach.
