Kalami lies on the North East coast, amid a landscape of quiet bays and overlooked by the tree-clad slopes of Mount Pantokrator. Once a quiet fishing village, it now is one of the livelier resorts of Corfu. Kalami beach offers sand and stone shorelines, and many who visit this coast hire boats or go on excursions to some of the magnificent coves which surround the area. Kalami is on this coastline that rests the famous White House, where the writer Lawrence Durrell lived with his wife just before the second world war, and offers impressive views over the harbour. It can be visited as it now is used as a restaurant and holiday apartments. Kalami offers a number of tavernas which use fresh local produces, and many can be found surrounded by Orange, Lemon & Olive Trees.
