The Aegean Greek Islands
Just a breath away from the Asia Minor coast, in the northeastern part of the Aegean Sea, we find an impressive collection of big islands, Ikaria, Samos, Limnos, Lesvos, Chios, Rhodes and smaller ones, Agios Efstratios, Agios Minas, Antipsara, Thymaina, Oinousses, Samiopoula, Fournoi and Psara.
Hot springs, fortress villages, rich history, delicious seafood, some of the best beaches in the Aegean are waiting to offer you memorable, and authentic experiences. Samos is the birthplace of the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, the philosopher Epicurus, and the astronomer Aristarchus of Samos, the first to propose that the Earth revolves around the sun.

The Greek Archipelago takes up 7,500 km of the country’s total 16,000 km coastline, offering a highly diversified landscape: beaches stretching over many kilometers, sheltered bays and coves, sandy beaches with sand-dunes, pebble beaches, coastal caves with steep rocks and dark colored sand typical of volcanic soil and coastal wetlands. The islands of Dodecanese in south-eastern Aegean is the sunniest corner in Greece. 12 large islands and numerous smaller ones with crystal clear waters, sandy or pebbly beaches, important archaeological finds, imposing Byzantine and medieval monuments and unique traditional settlements are waiting to be discovered.

Rhodes is a medieval treasure beautifully preserved throughout the centuries. Wander around its magnificent Old City, surrounded by medieval walls with seven gates, and admire the Palace of the Grand Master, the most awe- inspiring building in the whole island. Take a romantic stroll around the famous Street of the Knights and feel like a holy warrior in shining armour, or a noble princess. Peer into the historic past of the city with a visit to the Archaeological Museum. Due to the sunny Rhodes weather, it has the longest season of any of the Greek islands as it is one of the southern most islands, and it generally lasts from the beginning of April until the end of November.

The hottest time of the year is, of course, summer. And the heat in July and August might be too much for some.
This is when the youth of Europe head to Rhodes amazing beaches. But even in the hottest days of summer you’ll find plenty of places to sit in the shade, while you cool off at a cafe. April and May, as well as September and October are considered the most ideal times to visit as you still get warm and sunny days, and warm nights with pleasant island breezes. Getting to the island in the off months from December to March can be a little tricky. The ferries only travel in good weather, and unless you have a strong stomach the trip by water can be a bit much for some visitors. There are flights to and from Rhodes throughout the winter, but you have to go via Athens.
